Reliable Hydrogen Distribution Measurement
Measure Hydrogen Where It's Needed Most
In today's hydrogen infrastructure, very few end users, such as fueling stations, are directly connected to a 24/7 pipeline supply. Most rely on high-pressure hose trailers to transport hydrogen from the point of production to local storage facilities. This applies to both hydrogen fueling stations and industrial users. To ensure accurate delivery records and accountability, each trailer is equipped with precision flow meters that log each gas transfer.
Trusted Accuracy – Certified for Global Applications
Rheonik flow meters deliver top-tier precision and are certified for custody transfer applications. Devices are certified according to
MID MI-002 and
OIML R 137-1&2:2012
for gas measurement, and
CS OIML R139 for fuel dispensing systems. These certifications ensure compliance with international standards for hydrogen distribution and trade.
Ready for the demands of hydrogen transportation
Hydrogen is primarily transported in gaseous form using specialized high-pressure tube trailers. These trailers are made of bundled steel cylinders that store hydrogen at several hundred bar. Compared to other industrial gases such as nitrogen or oxygen, hydrogen places much higher demands on container materials and sealing technologies due to its small molecular size and tendency to diffuse.
To meet these challenges, Rheonik meters are built from specialist materials that combat hydrogen embrittlement and feature industry-standard high-pressure connections. Alternatively, hydrogen may be delivered as cryogenic liquid at temperatures below -250 °C in insulated tanks. Both scenarios require highly accurate and reliable flow measurement during loading and unloading to ensure traceable custody transfer.
Maximum Performance in Minimum Space
Rheonik Coriolis mass flow meters are installed directly on hydrogen trailers for both loading and unloading operations. They provide accurate measurement of gas volumes under high pressure and high temperature conditions. With their compact pipe footprint, these meters are ideal for installation in confined spaces such as side panels and trailer cabinets.
Designed to withstand the physical challenges of transportation, Rheonik sensors are resistant to external vibration and require no maintenance. Their intrinsically safe design is suitable for Zone 0 environments, ensuring long-term operational safety and reliability.
Intelligent Technology for Safe, Independent Operation
Rheonik transmitters operate directly from the truck’s 12 VDC battery – no need for additional power converters or external sources. For added security, transmitters can be tamper-proof sealed to prevent unauthorized changes to configuration and settings. This protects the integrity of measurement data at all times – a key factor for accurate hydrogen transaction billing.
